Whoohoo!
You’re session is booked!
Here’s some helpful information as you await your newborn session!

Before Your Session
Fill Out Your Questionnaire
I find it so mutually benefical to take the time to fill out as little or as much as you’d like of this Client Questionnaire!
It helps spark ideas for you about your session…and helps me get to know you a bit better to best meet your needs!
Choose Your Outfits
Borrow from the Client Closet or bring your own!
If you’d like to borrow from the Client Closet, scroll through available items and check out the highlights for modeled pictures and outfit ideas. Shoot me a message through there if you’d like better photos or to see whole outfits together! Plan for your first 15 minutes of your session to be spent getting ready, if needed.
Things to keep in mind when planning your outfits for your session:
Coordinating is great! Matchy-matchy is something to avoid!
Skip wording, logos, or showy characters.
Your friends are: layers, textures, and comfort!
Neutrals always photograph great. Soft tones are always beautiful.
Don’t be afraid of patterns! But like soft pops of color, keep it limited in persons.
Add layers like a cardigan, scarf, jewelry, baby slings, suspenders, bow ties, you name it!
Textures like lace shawls/cardis, textured swaddles, waffle linen clothing, etc!
Some of my FAVORITE shops are Jamie Kay, H&M, Zara, Gap and Old Navy! Running late? Amazon (prime only!) actually has lots of simple, cute pieces! Just check those reviews and quick shipping to avoid 6 weeks from overseas! Here is a link to my Suggested Amazon finds!
Start thinking of your products
Start looking at your walls. Do you need updated pictures? Or worse…maybe you need ANY pictures up on your wall!?
Do you know why wall art of your family is beneficial? Display pictures of your kiddos and family on the wall is a tangible way to show your children just how valuable and treasured they are!
When I create albums for my own family…I don’t expect them to sit on our coffee table. Sometimes they do. But mostly I expect to flip through them with my grandbabies one day. I think about the day I get to share them with my future kid-in-laws. I daydream sometimes about being 70, silently crying over the most wonderful time in my life. Albums are important now…but how much more important will it be to show the ones I love just how much I loved them long ago?
Digital files. Everyone loves them. Everyone loves to share them with friends and family! Digital collections are important because they’re a way to make sure you have the images forever! And don’t forget…I always say to save your files in at least 3 locations. Maybe an external hard drive. Maybe your moms computer. Maybe on the cloud. But technology changes or fails, so never rely on one place!
BRING BABY READY FOR PHOTOS!
I have lots of skills getting most babies to sleep….babywhisperer.
But the best environment for a sleepy, happy baby is warm, clean, and a fully belly. With changing right after arriving, I usually plan on baby being fed once arriving. Sometimes it’s a full feeding, sometimes it’s just a top off. We are not in a rush to get baby happy! You’ll arrive, get everyone ready (if needed), feed and change baby…and then the magic happens.

During Your Session
What to expect
Our sessions are full of cuddles and fun!
Your newborn session will focus on cuddling that sweet baby of yours! We’ll take as many or as few breaks as baby needs for diaper changes, outfit updates, or feedings. Don’t ever feel like you need to rush or hold baby off. I am well aware of all that it takes to keep a little one content! Your session will last anywhere from an one to two hours, typically. All based on little attitudes!
Studio Newborn Sessions:
My goals are to include images like Mom & Baby, Dad & Baby, Siblings & Baby, a variety of family pictures, and a variety of just baby pictures! We’ll utilize different areas of the studio (the baby posing area, the family bed, the gorgeous windows) While baby is getting their pictures done alone, mom and dad can enjoy snacks and a little break! We keep it nice and warm in the studio, so good luck not getting just a tad sleepy ;)
At Home Newborn Sessions:
We’ll utilize the nursery (even if it’s just a little area next to the master bed!), often the master bedroom, the living room, and possibly the kitchen. My goal is to leave you with beautiful portraits of your family, while capturing little details that will be special to look back upon one day. Pets are always welcome, but in my years of experience, many pets are very excited and often don’t want to sit and pose with us, as hoped. I’m always open to trying to include your furbabies…but be prepared being put in another room or outside may be the result!
During your session, we’ll just move from room to room, as baby allows, taking images of as many connections as possible. My goals are to include images like Mom & Baby, Dad & Baby, Siblings & Baby, a variety of family pictures, and a variety of just baby pictures! Many families enjoying setting up special events during the photo session like baby’s first bath or a first walk around the block!
